Details

Product Name: Zyrtec
Drug Name: Cetririzine HCI

Packaging Type: Packets of 30 x 10 mg Tablets

Manufacturer: Pfizer

Use: Zyrtec is a non-sedating antihistamine that is very popular for combatting allergies. It blocks the symptoms of runny nose, watery and itchy eyes, sneezing and hay fever, and brings relief so that you can still be at full alertness. The good thing about Zyrtec is that it lasts 24 hours so you only have to take one tablet, and it will last you without you having to take one every few hours.

How to take it: Take Zyrtec allergy medication by mouth once a day. Take each dose of with a full glass of water. It may be taken with or without food.

Side effects: When Zyrtec is administered at recommended doses any side effects that may occur, eg agitation, dry mouth, drowsiness or headache, do not differ significantly from placebo. Very occasionally, symptoms of hypersensitivity have been reported.

Precautions: Inform your doctor of your medical history, including all allergies, especially drug allergies. Tell your doctor if you have kidney, liver, thyroid or heart disease. Tell your doctor if you have high blood pressure, asthma or have ever had a seizure. Tell them if you drink alcohol. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant, trying to become pregnant, or if you are breastfeeding. Inform them of all prescription medications you are currently taking, including those available without a prescription. It is especially important that your doctor knows if you are taking other cough, cold or allergy medicines, antidepressants, sedatives, sleeping pills, tranquilizers, narcotics, barbiturates, psychiatric medicines, muscle relaxants, diet pills, high blood pressure medications, or medications for the treatment of anxiety. Since the prescription Zyrtec allergy medication may cause drowsiness or dizziness, do not drive or perform potentially dangerous tasks until you know how your body will respond to the Zyrtec allergy medication. Drinking alcohol may intensify drowsiness and dizziness while you take it. Since this allergy drug passes into breast milk, you should not take it if you are breastfeeding.
