For further details see this leaflet. Side Effects With SPIRIVA the most commonly reported adverse drug reaction is dry mouth. Dry mouth is usually mild and often resolved during continued treatment. Other reactions reported in individual patients and consistent with possible anticholinergic effects included constipation, increased heart rate, blurred vision, glaucoma, urinary difficulty, and urinary retention. Precautions SPIRIVA should not be taken by patients with a history of hypersensitivity to atropine or any of its derivatives, including ipratropium or any component of this product. SPIRIVA is intended as a once-daily maintenance treatment for COPD and is not indicated for the initial treatment of acute episodes of bronchospasm, i.e., rescue therapy.
