Use: Sebizole is the generic form of the more popular Nizoral Shampoo. Its active ingredient ketoconazole works best on the yeast that forms dandruff, and also is beneficial to those using hairloss products because the scalp is made clean and infection free and enables the hairloss product to work effectively.
How to apply it: Shampoo twice weekly for 2-4 weeks then once every 1-2 weeks. Apply to wet hair and scalp and leave in contact 3-5 mins before rinsing thorougly.
Side effects: Adverse events include allergic reaction, itchy, irritated or greasy skin and scalp, rash and erythema. As with other shampoos, a local burning sensation oiliness and dryness of the hair and scalp have also been reported.
Precautions: Irritation may occur when Sebizole Shampoo is used immediately after prolonged treatment with topical corticosteroids on the same area. If a reaction suggesting sensitivity or chemical irritation should occur use of Sebizole Shampoo should be discontinued. Avoid contact with the eyes. Only use whilst pregnant if the benefit to the mother outweigh the potential risk to the baby.
