How to take it Take Generic Zyrtec (Cetirizine) allergy medication by mouth once a day. Take each dose of with a full glass of water. It may be taken with or without food. Side Effects Side effects that may occur are agitation, dry mouth, drowsiness or headache, do not differ significantly from placebo.
