Atacand belongs to a group of antihypertensive medications called angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARB) which represent the first new class of antihypertensive agents in the United States in more than a decade. How to take it: Follow the directions for using this medicine provided by your doctor. This medicine may be taken on an empty stomach or with food. Side effects: Adverse experiences that occurred in at least one percent of patients treated with Atacand and at a higher incidence vs. placebo included back pain, dizziness, upper respiratory tract infection, pharyngitis, and rhinitis. Precautions: Do not drive, operate machinery, or do anything else that could be dangerous until you know how you react to this medicine.
